Food Photography

Food photography is a specialized niche in the photo world. Food photography
Requires a unique set of photographic skills. If you do not have a studio you can use natural light. This creates a softer look and usually requires nothing more than a bouncecard (white cardboard) to reflect light back into the shadows. Another tool, which is essential, is a good tripod. Use the mirror lockup feature if your camera has one. Use atimer or cable release and shoot away.

Start simple and try to pick a subject that you can style without a professional food stylist. I will cover food stylists another time. Fruits and vegetables are a great start.
Experiment with depth of field and camera angle.
